Because of this lack of symptoms in the early stages, glaucoma is sometimes called \u2018the silent thief of vision\u2019. It has been estimated that there is about 50% of undiagnosed glaucoma. Routine eye examination is surely most important in the detection and prevention of the disease from progressing to a point of irreversible vision loss.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Glaucoma is a multifactorial condition with characteristic optic nerve damage and visual field defects.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Risk factors:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li3\">Age<\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\">Family history\/genetics<\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\">Race<\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\">Intraocular pressure (IOP)<\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\">Myopia<\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\">Diabetes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p3\">Glaucoma examination includes the following:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li3\">Complaints and history taking<\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\">Visual function tests<\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\">IOP measurement<\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\">Corneal thickness measurement<\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\">Assessment of the anterior segment, anterior chamber and angle<\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\">Visual field test<\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\">Evaluation of the Optic Nerve<\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\">Fundus photography<\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\">Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)<\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\">Analysis of findings and recommendation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4500 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/visioncare.com.hk\/wp-content\/uploads\/12-Glaucoma-Examination-%E9%9D%92%E5%85%89%E7%9C%BCPhoto.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 483px) 100vw, 483px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/visioncare.com.hk\/wp-content\/uploads\/12-Glaucoma-Examination-\u9752\u5149\u773cPhoto.jpg 483w, https:\/\/visioncare.com.hk\/wp-content\/uploads\/12-Glaucoma-Examination-\u9752\u5149\u773cPhoto-216x300.jpg 216w\" alt=\"\" width=\"483\" height=\"672\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Glaucoma Examination Glaucoma has become the world\u2019s second leading cause of blindness, after cataract.
